"The liar"
February 2012
Winning project of the Lluis Camps 2012 prize. In this academic work all phases of a book’s creation are developed. In the first sketches of the cover and casing the composition parameters are defined. A static page format is chosen, with a main grid for the general text, and a secondary one to locate the folios, titles, and notes. The composition measurement determines the body and spacing of the general text by means of several readability tests. The calculation of the literary original and the name of pages to reproduce from our book is made. The thickness of the spine for the cover is also calculated according to the number of sheets and weight of the paper. After scanning the literary original, a text recognition tool is used to convert the image into rich text. Once the text is corrected and verified, the contents of the book are made. In parallel the layout of the cover is also made, with the treatment of the images on one hand, and the texts on the other hand. Files are converted to standard PDF-X3 and X4 print formats, previously checking the ink limit (specified at 320%), resolutions and embedded fonts, among other parameters.
