Vilamagore Medieval 2026
Winning poster design for Vilamagore Medieval 2026, the medieval festival of Sant Pere de Vilamajor, jointly organised by the Town Council and the Associació Vilamagore Medieval.
Under the slogan “The Troubadour Sings, and the Legend Resounds”, the illustration recreates the festive atmosphere of medieval Sant Pere de Vilamajor, combining elements of its architectural heritage, artisan market stalls and traditional crafts, the natural surroundings, and three characters who evoke the life and legends of the period.
The composition features a troubadour, symbolising music, celebration and medieval romance, alongside two noble figures representing Ramon Berenguer IV and Petronilla of Aragon. Their presence reflects the historical connection between the Counts of Barcelona and the town during the 12th century, when Vilamajor was home to a comital residence where, according to tradition, their son, the future King Alfonso II of Aragon, may have been born.
Through a geometric visual language, stylised figures and a palette of warm, earthy tones contrasting with the greens of the landscape, the poster offers a contemporary reinterpretation of medieval imagery, evoking the town’s historical identity and the legacy of its legendary figures.
